The COVID-19 pandemic is far from over, and as we adjust to the new normal, many of us are slowly adapting to a different lifestyle routine altogether. Unfortunately, it’s not always a good one. The truth is that the pandemic has given way to tardiness and procrastination in our everyday life and provided us with an excuse to put things for later.


If you’ve fallen prey to these habits as well, it’s not too late to make amends. Here’s how you can get back on track with the following tips:


#1: Start small at first

If you’ve gotten a little too comfortable into your new laid-back routine, it might be best to take baby steps when completing a task. Remember – starting your task is a significant achievement, so even if you can’t complete it in one stretch, it’s okay to do it in bits and pieces as long as you get it done eventually.


#2: Find a work partner

Sometimes we need someone to give us a push towards our goals. A study or work partner is an excellent source of motivation and constant accountability even when you’re working from home.


#3: Set your dedicated space

Working from home during the pandemic is especially difficult if you have family around 24/7. So it’s important to separate your workspace, even if it’s a desk, from the rest of your home to get work done more efficiently and without distractions.


#4: Organize your tasks and time

One of the biggest reasons for procrastination is a disorganized thought process and plan for the task at hand. Start from the drawing board, recuperate and set out a thorough, organized routine for yourself, including task deadlines and breaks for a better work outcome.


#5: Pat yourself on the back

It’s important to be your own cheerleader when you complete a tedious project. If you’ve successfully overcome your procrastination and achieved your goal, it’s important to reward yourself with a time-out for relaxation and recharging.
